Time to Move?

October 16, 2008 18:06 by Chris Smith

Well probably not according to UK estate agents right now.  Allegedly they are only selling an average of 1 house per week, still, if you consider how many estate agents there are nationwide and the private sales that are taking place, then there are still a lot of properties changing hands.  The move that I am referring to is in your own development, your own journey.

I remember one of my previous bosses in corporate life who used to say to our team "if you are feeling comfortable, then you should be worried.  It is time for a change".  I don't subscribe to the worry bit by the way - useless and wasted energy.  Whilst that was an unpalatable message at the time, I grew to understand the meaning of it.  If you have read "Who Move My Cheese" by Dr Spencer Jonson, you will already understand what I mean.

The thing is this, in an economy that is uncertain right now, you could choose to keep your head down and hope that your job holds good.  You could also re-invent yourself or strengthen your skills and knowledge.  If you feel stagnated or lacking motivation where you are right now, you owe it to yourself to make a move and to do something that inspires you.  The great thing about the coaching profession right now is that it is really buoyant because individuals and organisations understand the value in investing in people.  Often training budgets are scrutinised during financial slow-down, however, coaching is recognised as a worthwhile investment to develop human capital, i.e. YOU!

There has never been a better time to capitalise on your own development and discover how hiring a coach can enhance all areas of your life.
