Let Your Mind Wander

July 22, 2008 20:10 by Chris Smith

In case you hadn't noticed this is the holiday season for most families in Europe.  As school holidays started last week this is perhaps the busiest time when people decide to head to sunnier climates.  If you live in the UK you will know exactly what I mean.  For many this can be a very stressful time.  The stress of not being stressed is a strange paradox that affects many people.  If you think about the dynamo effect of constantly being 'on the go', then suddenly you stop............what do you do?  It takes a good week for some to unwind and shift down a few gears.  Then of course there is often the stressful period leading up to the holiday, wrapping everything up at work just so that you can escape for a much needed break.

So when you arrive at your holiday destination you can finally relax and enjoy the degrees of separation between you and the life you have left behind for the duration of your stay.  Rest assured that a week, ten days or even two weeks is a relatively short space of time that will pass quickly.  So if you find yourself lying on an idyllic beach somewhere or trekking in beautiful surroundings or whatever you like to do to relax - let your mind wander down lanes and alleys that are full of inspiring thoughts and insights.  The more you relax the more the creative right side of your brain is likely to respond.  I wonder how often you let your mind wander?  When you have those great and inspired thoughts, find some way of capturing them.  Keep some brief notes and capture good ideas, then make a commitment to take action on them when you get back to bring them a step closer to reality.  Get more out of your holiday this year by letting your mind wander.  It knows where to go!
